Abdul Fatawu Wins Premier League September Creative Moment Award

Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been crowned the Premier League's Adobe Express Creative Moment of the Month for September 2026 after producing one of the most audacious pieces of skill of the season.

The Ipswich Town No. 7 won the award for his remarkable double nutmeg against Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium on September 19.

Fatawu collected a loose pass inside his own half before requiring just two touches to nutmeg Vitalii Mykolenko and James Garner in quick succession.

He then attempted to catch goalkeeper Jordan Pickford off his line with an audacious effort from inside his own half, but Pickford recovered to push the ball wide.

The Premier League captured the moment with the playful description: “Two nutmegs for the price of one 🥜.”

Fatawu beats four Premier League stars

The Ghanaian's moment was selected through a combination of fan voting and an expert panel.

He finished ahead of:

  1. Martin Zubimendi — Arsenal
  2. Emiliano Buendia — Aston Villa
  3. Joao Pedro — Chelsea
  4. Liam Delap — Nottingham Forest

Fatawu becomes the seventh player to win the Creative Moment of the Month award since its introduction in January 2026.

He is also the first Ipswich player to claim a monthly Premier League award since Jens Cajuste was recognised in March 2025.

Another moment of magic from Fatawu

The award-winning piece of skill carried echoes of another spectacular moment from Fatawu.

In December 2025, while playing for Leicester City against Ipswich, the Ghana international scored a stunning goal from inside his own half.

His latest effort did not produce a goal, but the combination of two consecutive nutmegs and an attempt to beat Pickford from distance proved enough to capture the imagination of supporters and the award's judging panel.

At just 22, Fatawu's rise continues to gather momentum.

The Tamale-born winger began his career with Steadfast FC before moving to Europe and joining Sporting CP. He later spent time with Leicester City, making 55 appearances and scoring nine goals, before moving to Ipswich.

A bittersweet afternoon

Despite producing the game's standout individual moment, Fatawu's afternoon against Everton ended in disappointment.

He was sent off in the 67th minute for simulation as Ipswich eventually lost 1-0.

The Ghanaian subsequently became the target of racist abuse online. Ipswich Town and the Premier League have launched investigations and offered their support to the player.

Fatawu will also serve a suspension for Ipswich's meeting with Fulham.

His September campaign therefore contained both extremes — an individual moment of extraordinary skill and a difficult disciplinary and personal aftermath.

But the Creative Moment award provides another landmark in the young Ghanaian's rapidly developing Premier League career, with Fatawu continuing to establish himself as one of Ghana's most exciting young attacking talents.
