Ampem Darkoa Ladies have taken another giant step towards the CAF Women’s Champions League after fighting back to beat Nigeria’s Edo Queens 2-1 in the WAFU B qualifiers semi-final.

The Ghanaian champions produced a spirited second-half comeback to overturn an early deficit and secure a place in the final, keeping their hopes of returning to Africa’s biggest women’s club competition alive.

Edo Queens started brightly and took the lead early in the contest, putting Ampem Darkoa under pressure as the Nigerian champions looked set to book their place in the final.

But the Techiman-based side responded in trademark fashion.

The Nana Mma showed their experience and resilience after the break, scoring twice in the second half to complete a memorable turnaround and send their Nigerian opponents crashing out.

The 2-1 victory means Ampem Darkoa are now just one win away from securing qualification to the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.

They will face the winner of the other semi-final in the WAFU B final, with the eventual champion earning the zone’s ticket to the continental showpiece.

Ampem Darkoa's latest victory adds another chapter to the club's remarkable history in African women's football.

The Ghanaian champions previously reached the CAF Women’s Champions League final in 2023, where they were beaten by South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns.

They will now have another opportunity to return to the grandest stage and challenge Africa’s best.

Defending champions AS FAR of Morocco have already secured their place in the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League, with seven more teams expected to join them from the various qualifying zones.

CAF is yet to announce the host location and dates for this year's main tournament.

For Ampem Darkoa, however, the immediate focus is clear: one more victory stands between the Nana Mma and another appearance on the African stage.
