FA Announces Record GH¢95m Package for 2026/27 Ghana Premier League Season

Champions to receive record GH¢3 million as each of the 18 clubs gets GH¢1 million in pre-season support

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a record GH¢9.5 million financial package for clubs ahead of the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.

GFA President Kurt Okraku made the announcement during the Association’s 32nd Ordinary Session of Congress in Prestea, outlining a significant increase in financial support and prize money for clubs competing in Ghana’s top-flight league.

Under the new arrangement, each of the 18 Premier League clubs will receive GH¢1 million before the start of the 2026/27 season.

The financial support is aimed at strengthening the clubs’ financial stability and helping them improve their competitiveness ahead of the new campaign.

The initiative follows the partnership between the GFA and Adesa Productions, which also provided financial support to Premier League clubs ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Record Prize Money Announced

The GFA has also significantly increased the prize money for the leading teams in the Premier League.

The 2026/27 prize-money structure will see the league champions pocket a record GH¢3 million, up from the GH¢2 million awarded to last season’s winners.

The runner-up will receive GH¢1 million, while the teams finishing third and fourth will earn GH¢800,000 and GH¢750,000 respectively.

  1. Champions: GH¢3 million
  2. Runners-up: GH¢1 million
  3. 3rd place: GH¢800,000
  4. 4th place: GH¢750,000

The increase represents a major financial boost for clubs and raises the stakes in the battle for the league title and continental qualification.

Okraku also highlighted the importance of the GFA’s broadcasting partnership with Adesa Limited, describing the agreement as a development that has “ushered in a new era for football broadcasting in Ghana.”

According to the GFA President, the partnership has improved the quality of production while expanding the reach and visibility of the Ghana Premier League.

Okraku further revealed that GH¢9.5 million in total will be paid as prize money for the just-ended Premier League season and as financial support for clubs ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The latest announcement represents one of the most significant financial commitments to Ghana’s top-flight football in recent years, with the GFA hoping the increased investment will translate into stronger clubs, improved competition and greater visibility for the domestic game.

With the 2026/27 season approaching, clubs will now prepare to put the additional financial resources to use as they target domestic success and a place among Ghana’s continental representatives.
