Hearts of Oak Step Up Pre-Season Preparations Ahead of 2026/27 Campaign

Accra Hearts of Oak are intensifying preparations for the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season, with Public Relations Officer Opare Addo assuring supporters that the club’s plans are progressing well.
Speaking on Kyzz 89.7FM, Opare Addo said the players are undergoing intensive training under the club’s new technical team as preparations gather momentum.
“Everything is going on very well at the camp. The players are training intensively with the new head coach as he unleashes his experience, plans and tactics to the players ahead of the new 2026/27 season.”
The Phobians are also working on strengthening the squad, although the club has yet to announce specific arrivals or departures.
Opare Addo stressed that all transfer decisions will be communicated through the club’s official channels, while revealing that no decision has been made on goalkeeper Benjamin Asare.
Hearts have also opted out of this year’s GHALCA Top 4 tournament after the competition clashed with the club’s pre-season plans and other scheduled activities.
Instead, the Phobians will host a four-team invitational tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, August 20, featuring Swedru All Blacks, Vision FC and Port City.
According to Opare Addo, the tournament will provide the technical team with an opportunity to assess the squad ahead of the new campaign.
“We have organized this tournament to help the team test their strength ahead of the upcoming season.”
Despite finishing in the top four last season, Hearts are setting their sights higher this time around, with the club determined to compete rather than simply participate.
“Hearts of Oak doesn’t just go into the season to participate, but to compete. That is our target and ambition for the season.”
Opare Addo has also called on the club’s supporters—the “12th man”—to turn out in numbers for the invitational tournament and continue backing the team throughout the season.
With preparations gathering pace, Hearts of Oak will hope their pre-season work provides a strong foundation for a more ambitious 2026/27 campaign.
