Aduana FC charged by GFA for failing to protect Karela United players and officials after 2-1 Ghana Premier League win in Dormaa Ahenkro. Team bus windows smashed.
Aduana FC are in big trouble with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) after the reported attack on Karela United players, officials and their team bus at Dormaa Ahenkro.
The GFA has officially charged the two-time Ghana Premier League champions after Sunday's Matchday 3 clash at Nana Agyemang Badu I Park.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Aduana beat Karela 2-1 in a dramatic game. Stephen Amankona gave Aduana the lead from the penalty spot in the 41st minute, Iddi Mahfuz equalized for Karela in the 55th minute, and Shawkan Mohammed scored a 98th-minute winner for Aduana — their first win of the 2026/27 season.
But after the final whistle, chaos broke out.
According to reports, some Aduana supporters broke into the restricted safety zone, threw objects at the Karela United team bus and smashed some windows. Some Karela officials and technical team members were also physically harassed.
Karela United later lodged a formal complaint with the Ghana Police Service.
GFA CHARGES
The GFA Disciplinary Committee says Aduana breached:
- Articles 16(1)(c), 16(1)(e) and 16(2)(f) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019 — failure to ensure safety and security
- Protocol 9(b) of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols, 2025
In simple terms: Aduana failed to protect the away team and failed to control their own fans.
The club has until Wednesday, September 23, 2026 to respond to the charges. If they fail to respond, the GFA will go ahead and punish them in their absence.
This comes just days after Aduana were also charged for inappropriate social media conduct — they are facing two charges in one week.
